Our Heritage
Grip Leisure is a part of the GRIP group of companies, which began trading in 1958 in Sydney, Australia.
1950’s – 1970’s
The company originally began manufacturing point-of-sale signage, before
developing the world’s first welded PVC armbands, brand name ‘Floaties’.
By the end of the 1970’s the company had grown significantly and needed
to expand its manufacturing capabilities to match demand.
1980’s – 1990’s
A substantial South East Asian manufacturing supply network was
developed. Textile manufacturing started with basic Lycra swimwear, a
forerunner to the more sophisticated UPF Lycra products the company
produces today.
2000’s
The need to fully realise the potential of manufacturing in China
resulted in the partnership between Grip Leisure and China based
Ubiconsult. Ubiconsult has contract manufactured swim, surf, ski,
children’s and maternity wear for leading global brands for over 20
years.
2010’s
Leverage the long established relationships with our extensive supply
base to help brands maintain the quality in their textile products at a
price point our clients, and in turn their customers, will accept.
